I have just lost my girlfriend to CNN. That is, if I tell her about this. Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

“Oh, Bad J, she’ll find out one way or another and then beat you for not telling her sooner.”

You’re right, Good J, we’ll tell her. Eventually.

“Oh, Bad J, you’re so silly. And beefy, too!”

Thanks, Good J. Now back in the box with you…)

CNN Gives Stewart The World

COMEDY Central funnyman Jon Stewart is taking his act worldwide - via CNN.

Stewart, who hosts “The Daily Show,” will host “The Daily Show: Global Edition,” a half-hour weekly show airing on CNN International beginning on Sept. 21.

“Global Edition” will air Saturdays and Sundays in most overseas regions and will be comprised of bits culled from that weeks’ worth of “Daily Show.”

“We will take the best segments which have relevance for an international audience like the headlines and the best of his celebrity interviews,” said CNN International spokesman Nigel Pritchard.

AOL Time Warner owns CNN and part of Comedy Central (with Viacom).

” ‘The Daily Show’ has no topicality internationally and no relevance for an audience outside the U.S.,” Pritchard said.

“We like the format of the show and Jon is a very good host . . . but we’re using the style of the show. It’s not because of Jon but because of the program.”

“The Daily Show” airs weekdays at 11 p.m.

GASP!!!

Director picked for ‘Batman vs. Superman’ movie

Wolfgang Petersen (”The Perfect Storm”) will direct “Batman vs. Superman,” with the major release targeted for a 2004 premiere via Warner Bros., Variety reports.

In a script penned by Andrew Kevin Walker (”Seven”), the two superheroes are allies who come to mighty blows over what Petersen describes as differing philosophies.

“It is a clash of the titans,” Petersen told Daily Variety. “They play off of each other so perfectly. (Superman) is clear, bright, all that is noble and good, and Batman represents the dark, obsessive and vengeful side. They are two sides of the same coin and that is material for great drama.”

Darn tootin’! And Wolfgang Petersen not only directed “The Perrfect Storm” (which was okay) but he directed “Das Boot” and will be directing “Ender’s Game” whenever that gets through development hell.

Terror & Denial

On the 4th of July, an Egyptian immigrant to the United States who believes in wild conspiracy theories about Jews, is known for his great “hate for Israel,” and has possible ties to al Qaeda, armed himself to the teeth and assaulted the Israeli airline counter at Los Angeles International Airport, killing two.

It is obvious why Hesham Mohamed Ali Hadayet targeted Jews in a highly visible place on so prominent a date: to engage in terrorism against Israel.

It is obvious why John Wilkes Booth targeted the President of the United States in a higly visible place: to engage in terrorism against the Union.

It is obvious why John Hinkley targeted the President of the United States: to engage in terrorism to win the heart of Jodie Foster.

It is obvious why Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson robbed, beat and tied Matthew Shepard to a fence to let him die: to engage in terrorism against Gays.

I’m sorry, it doesn’t work, really. IF the Al Qaeda ties pan out, yes, terrorism. If he is connected with an organization that promotes terrorism against Israel, yes, terrorism.

But if it was ONE man acting on his own volition for whatever political reasons, it is a hate crime. Again, a distinction HAS to be made or we will have so many crimes labled as acts of terrorism it won’t be funny and well run into the major issue of collateral consequences for crimes.

One can not rule out terrorism in this case, but we can not jump ahead of ourselves and call it terror outright.
