Florida spammers sue anti-spam groups

I smell fradulent charges…

A group of Florida-based porn peddlers, penis enlargement and Viagra spammers has united to file suit against anti-spam organisations.

Under the newly-registered name EmarketersAmerica.org, a front set up by notorious spammer Eddy Marin’s lawyer Mark E. Felstein, the suit seeks to force prominent anti-spam organisations to stop blocking their spam.

A long list of individuals and anti-spam organisations preventing bulk mailers from getting their spam out, including the UK-based Spamhaus Project and Spews.org, are listed in the suit.

The civil action law-suit, filed on April 14, seeks an injunction against anti-spam organisation on behalf of the plaintiffs. It also seek damages of $75,000 (plus interest and costs) against the defendants on five separate counts: blacklisting IP addresses of the plaintiffs, libel, invasion of privacy, the publication of allegedly false information and “intentional interference with a contract”.

There they are!

Iranian Blogger/Journalist Arrested

Sina Motallebi, well-known blogger and journalist was arrested this morning. He is accused of threatening the national security by giving interviews to Persian language radios outside Iran, wrtiting articles both in newspapers and his weblog.

His weblog, WebGard (i.e. web surfer), was among the top 5 Persian most popular weblogs while his wife, Farnaz, has her own weblog, mostly writing about their newly-born baby boy, Mani.

Sina used to write film reviews for Iranian film magazines in the begining of his career, then joined the reformist paper of Jameah and continued to work with reformist papers. He was the political news editor in Ham-Mihan newspaper which only lasted a few months.

His father, Saeed Motallebi, who is a respected and experienced screenwriter, has been unofficially banned from working after the revolution because of his films in pre-revolution years.

Here’s a list of lesser known quotes.

Stick me with a fork, I’m done! School for the semester is over. I just got an 80 on my last Economics quiz, I’m mailing off my final tomorrow morning and I just spent a couple hours on the discussion board finishing up that portion of my Sociology grade (though I’ll be back through the week to follow up). Both classes look like at least B’s, but I’m hoping for A’s. Truthfully, I’ll be upset if I don’t get an A in Sociology, but that’s me being cocky in thinking I ruled that class and everyone else sucked. I guess it depends on how the teacher reacts to my recomendations on how the class was and what I’d do differently….
