2.12.06 Under The Covers Podcast

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

Joined by the elder Kenney brother Shaun, Under The Covers brings you all the love that cover songs can possibly convey this weekend before Valentine’s Day. Not that any real love songs were played. But just the same, a feeling of love was sent out with each one. Sorta like mom’s apple pie, only without gonig straight to your hips.

Catch Under The Covers live every Sunday night from 8-9pm at WVCW - Your Music, Your Station

New Arrivals

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

Aw yeah. Watched me some Death To Smoochie last night. Toss up between that and So I Married An Axe Murderer but I went with Smoochie because the DVD holder was broken and the DVD was shifting around a bunch of little bits of plastic during shipping so I wanted to make sure it wasn’t damaged. It wasn’t. Great movie.

So I Married An Axe Murderer is hands down my favorite Mike Meyers movie. Even with that annoying “There She Goes” song played every five minutes.

I’m psyched about the Coen Brothers Collection. The Big Lebowski, Blood Simple, The Man Who Wasn’t There and Intolerable Cruelty in one tiny package and all for only $36 bucks. Woo doggie. Now all I need is The Hudsucker Proxy (had the VHS at one point, don’t now), Fargo and The Ladykillers and my Coen Brothers collection will be complete. Though I should probably grab Crimewave too, just to be anal about it.

Got plenty of movies to keep me busy for a while. And by busy I mean distracted from doing homework.

Interesting thing. You go there and pick out a few words that you think describe me and then it compares what others think of me to what I think others think of me. I think.

This looks like it might be pretty neat.

Barney vs. Tupac

NOT SAFE FOR WORK! (Foul language abounds.) But freakin’ fantastic just the same.

Neat

Currently 6th and 7th on AudioStreet.net’s Alternative Covers list with my third song in 14th. Yeah, so it only took one listen to get 6th and 7th, but just the same. Nifty.

You can check out the songs here:

Unfortunately it wants you to register to listen to more than one or two (sometimes to listen to any). If it asks ya to do that, don’t worry about it, I’ll get the songs up elsewhere if you want to hear them that bad. I just like the ego stroke the chart provides.

Link Rediscovery

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

Seeing as how I’ve never really had a computer of my own hooked up to my very own internet connection, I generally don’t bookmark sites because, well, what’s the use? So overtime I lose track of sites I dig. I’ve rediscovered a few lately and wish to share with all:

- Tiny Mix Tapes, specifically for the “Automatic” Mix Tapes Generator. That’s always fun.

- Strip Creator is a cool site where you can make your own comic strip using template characters culled from other internet comics. I posted a few of my own in the past under two names (neither of which are safe for some work environments).

- Speaking of comics, Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal cracks me up every time.

- The Kenmore by the one and only Brandon Carr (or is there two?) is always a hoot as well. Just wish he updated it more frequently. We demand more! We being me and my two eyes.

- And I really need to look at Blogdex more often. Maybe then I’d find stuff to post on here.

- Boing Boing is another one I need to pay more attention to.

- A List Apart is chock full of design tips, making me want to change the J’s Notes layout yet again. Maybe…

Wow

Good album with a sound that harkens back to oldies Brit pop. Amazon put it among the best of 2005 for a reason.
