VCU and UVA to lose funding in House budget?

Because of stem cell research:

UVa and Virginia Commonwealth University face a potential loss of state funding if House Republicans succeed in keeping budget language that states: “No funding in this budget may be provided to any entity that conducts human stem cell research.”
Virginia Centrist has more.

  1. CB Says:

Taken out of context. The actual wording:

“No funding in this budget may be provided to any entity that conducts human stem cell research from stem cells obtained from human embryos, or for conducting such research; however, research conducted using stem cells other than embryonic stem cells may be funded.”

  2. Virginia Centrist Says:

    Same exact extremism.

Embryonic stem cell research is supported by a supermajority of society.

    Take it one step further:

An even bigger majority of society would object to holding up an entire university’s funding to threaten stem cell research…

This an extreme miscalculation by the House of GOP.
