  1. I think Elton did Diana a great injustice in using a melody he had written in some else’s memory. If he could not summon up an original tune, he should have found another artist who could. Also, Diana should never have placed in the context of someone like Marilyn Monroe, a drug addict whose narcistic personality fed on constant media attention. No one ever “made” Marilyn change her name. She ate it up!

    PS: I also thought the song about Marilyn, while melodic, was trite and that of some of the content not based on fact.
