Not so much anti-Huckabee as an anti-anti-McCain thing.
The last few weeks have seen many people claim that McCain is not Conservative enough to represent the Republican Party in November, so much so that you’ve had folks like Limbaugh tear into him and Coulter claim she’d campaign for Hillary Clinton over McCain.
That folks like Allen and Coburn are stepping up and saying John McCain’s our man ideally resonates with the Conservative base that might be hesitant to back McCain otherwise.
Awful brave of him togo out on such a limb, what with the Republican race so tight like that.
It’s not so much that anyone’s going out on a limb but that Allen’s voice gives McCain a boost among Conservatives who may have been iffy on McCain.
I’d be embarrassed to be endorsed by George Allen.
“Allen’s voice gives McCain a boost among Conservatives who may have been iffy on McCain.”
More of an anti-Huckabee thing, then? Does he have traction in Virginia?

Or Allen could be eying a Veep nod.
